Approximate time to complete writing assignments below: 3-4 hours
This week, you will be asked to put together a “package” for a position in a company for whom you would like to work. Ideally, this will be the company you researched in Week 2. With that company in mind, you will complete the following:
Cover Letter*: Write a cover letter to accompany your resume contacting the company asking that they consider granting you an interview*
Resume*: Include a modern-looking resume tailored for the position for which you wish to be considered in your targeted company. Do NOT just copy and paste your current resume. Read the relevant material in your book listed below and craft an articulate and well-written resume written specifically for the position*
Request for a Letter of Recommendation. You need to include a letter of recommendation to accompany your resume. Ask a previous instructor for a recommendation. Be sure to apply concepts of reader benefits and building goodwill in this formal request to this instructor.
Follow-Up Email. Finally, construct an email to the company thanking the person with whom you interviewed for the position around which this series of assignments is centered.
*These assignments will be revised during later weeks and must be included in the Final e-Portfolio
1. Write a Cover Letter
Write a Solicited Letter. pp. 483-495
Write to the company you researched in Week 2. The position is the one that you found that matches your unique blend of talents.
Follow the principles and examples provided in the pages mentioned above and check Figure 15-8 p. 484. Take time to assess your interests and qualifications, too, as these are the first step in the employment process.
2. Write A Resume
Write a Resume that an Employer Will Notice. See Chapter 15, pp. 466-4781
Thinking about the company you chose for the assignment above (the solicitation letter) and what it would be looking for in the position you desire, craft a resume that you would attach to your prospective letter. The resume should
Demonstrate how your qualifications fit the job
Be attractive and grammatically sound
Have a clear and specific career objective listed
You may create a resume that employs any of the examples shown in Chapter 15. The resume shown in Figure 15.4 p.472 may be used. Pay particular attention to “action verbs.” Do NOT just submit any old resume you have used for many years.
3. Write a Formal Letter
FORMAL LETTER: Request a Letter of Recommendation from Your Instructor. See Unit 3, Module 9, pp. 126-137
When submitting your prospective letter and resume from above, imagine you also wish to include a letter of recommendation from the instructor a previous class. Create a formal letter that requests such a recommendation. What information does your instructor need to include? You would want to indicate the company and the position. It would also be good to include accomplishments that you would like included and, in particular, what you have done in that instructor’s class that makes you a good candidate for the instructor to recommend.
Be sure to address the following information you want your instructor to include:
What makes you a good candidate for the recommendation
What information you would like to see included in the letter
To whom to send the letter
Where to send the letter
When the letter needs to received
4. Follow-up with an Interviewer. See Figure 16.3 p. 529
Imagine you have completed an interview for the position for which you completed the cover letter, your resume, and the recommendation from your former instructor. Send an email thanking the person you met. Thank your interviewer for their hospitality. Demonstrate that you listened closely. Make yourself stand out by reiterating any points that you want the interviewer to remember about you, your interview, your unique experiences, and your skills. Remind them of points that stood out during the interview and that separated you from everyone else (This may take creativity). Be enthusiastic about the company.
Your submission for this assignment should include all elements of the email: Address, Subject Line, Salutation, and Signature Block. Compose this in a document. Do NOT use screen shots.
Here is the information on the company I researched in week two:

Explanation of Skills
I researched the job opportunity for a human resource manager at AMA Group, New York. Given the required skills, I possess a bachelor’s degree and sufficient work experience in the human resource sector. I have multiple years of experience working with and under s team and am proficient in employment laws and regulations. I am highly driven and capable of working in a deadline-driven environment, as required by the company for this position. I can effectively solve problems with attention to detail; therefore, I possess the skills that make me a good fit for this job. Furthermore, I am culture driven and will be able to promote diversity and integrity in the company. However, I have little experience working with Paylocity, and I will indulge in several training and workshops to familiarize myself fully with this system.
Summary of the Company
The company’s mission, AMA Group, is to provide outstanding customer experience focusing on clients receiving service based on innovative, cost-effective, and solution-oriented designs meeting their needs. The company has a detailed website showcasing its leadership and values. AMA Group is committed to a cultural and diverse work environment which is also a major requirement for this job as they require someone that is culturally driven. They currently have offices in five states: New York, California, New Jersey, Florida, and Texas (About AMA, 2022). However, despite the company’s enticing work environment, there is a need to embrace diversity in their leadership as the male ratio is significantly higher than the female ratio. The company is founded on core values, and I believe it would be a good fit for me.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I get my paper done?

It depends with your deadline. If you need your paper completed in 3 hours, we will deliver it in that time. All you need to do is indicate your deadline in our custom order page here. Alternatively, if you are sending us your instructions via email, please be sure to indicate your deadline.

Will it be completely original? I don't want to be caught in a case of Academic Integrity Violation.

We are as paranoid as you are. Maybe even more! And we understand that the greatest sin you can commit in your academic journey is plagiarizing your academic work. To that end, we have made sure that we check and double-check our papers using high quality plagiarism detection tools such as SafeAssign and Turnitin before submitting the paper to you.

Who is my writer? Is he/she a native English Speaker?

All our writers are native English Speakers. That is not to say that ESL writers are not good, we just prefer hiring native writers because we want the very best people working on your paper. This might mean paying a little bit more for your paper as opposed to when you pay a foreign company whose writers are non-native English Speakers.

What if I need revisions? Will your charge additional for this?

Of course not! If you do happen to require a revision on your paper, our team will handle it for you free of charge. Matter of fact, we won’t rest till you are happy with your paper. So, ask for as many revisions as you need, it’s completely FREE!

Will you give me my money back if I don't like my paper?

We have very few instances where we delivered a paper that a client didn’t fall in love with. But if it so happens that you don’t like your paper for any reason whatsoever, we’ll refund your money back no questions asked.

I have more assignments after this, can you help me with those too?

Of course! And what’s even better is that we can reserve a writer permanently to work on your entire class. This comes in handy for projects which build up on each other and where you need just one writer, one writing style.

I got my order information wrong, can I change that?

Yes you can. Just reach out to our support team via email (support@essaynook.com) or live chat here and they’ll help you change the instructions.

Can I place an order via email instead of going through the order page?

Yes you can. Email Anna at anna@essaynook.com, she’s in charge of our sales team. Alternatively, you can talk to our Live Chat team here and request to speak to Anna.
